Fall Events

Hello, comrades! Autumn is upon us and with the change of season comes lots of fun events and new opportunities to get involved. Check back often for updates as events are added!

Thursday, September 20: Our Socialist-Feminist Working Group will be meeting at the Highland Square Library from 5:30-8. We will have social time and snacks, have a brief presentation on Socialist-Feminism, and discuss ways to get involved helping women in the Akron area – including volunteer opportunities, donation drives, fundraising and more! RSVP on Facebook here!

Tuesday, September 25: Join us for our September General meeting! For dues paying members, this will be an especially important meeting to attend as we are planning (attendance providing) to vote on endorsing Constance Gadell-Newton. We will also have a presentation about tenant’s rights regarding lead paint from our Treasurer, Andy Karas. Please join and bring a friend! RSVP on Facebook here!

Saturday, September 29: Our September Medicare for All canvassing event will focus on the Ellet area. Meet us at the Ellet branch library (2470 E. Market St) at 10:30am for training before we hit the streets. We will provide everything you need and pair you up with an experienced canvasser – just wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen! This is a great opportunity to get involved in one of our last M4A canvasses in 2018, so don’t miss out on the fun! RSVP on Facebook here!

Thursday, October 18: TRAPPED: Socialist Feminist Movie Night! Come hang out with other DSA members for a viewing of TRAPPED, a documentary about TRAP laws and the resulting closure of abortion clinics across the country. After the film we will have a presentation on how to protect abortion rights here in Akron. RSVP to the Facebook event here!

Tuesday, October 30: Join us for our October General Meeting! We will be discussing relevant election issues, canvassing opportunities and more! RSVP to the Facebook event here!
