Akron DSA Presents “13th”
On Saturday, May 18th, Akron DSA will present a viewing of the documentary “13th” at Compass Coffee in Akron. This event is FREE but seats are limited! Reserve your ticket today on Eventbrite!
Titled after the 13th amendment, which abolished chattel slavery in the US, “13th” explores race, the justice system, and mass incarceration in relation to the end of slavery. Learn more about the documentary “13th” by Ava DuVernay (including a trailer) here.
After the film, we will have a group discussion about the ideas presented in the film. We will also have a representative from Kent Books for Prisoners to talk about the work they are doing with incarcerated people in our area, offering information and opportunities for involvement.
